Understanding diabetes, its types, symptoms, and care

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases where blood sugar levels are high. This happens when the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use it effectively.

Common Symptoms:
Frequent urination • Increased thirst • Increased hunger

Types of Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes

Body does not produce insulin. Requires insulin injections.

Type 2 Diabetes

Insulin resistance where the body cannot use insulin properly.

Gestational Diabetes

Occurs during pregnancy and may lead to type 2 diabetes later.

Signs & Symptoms

Symptoms of diabetes can develop quickly (Type 1) or slowly (Type 2). High blood sugar can affect vision and overall health.

⚠ Serious Conditions:
Diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar state require immediate medical care.

Skin conditions and vision problems are also common complications of diabetes.
